The beginning of the current port began in the seventies.

Fort Carré

The historic Fort Carré  on the rock is surrounded by a huge and beautiful garden and  offers the best view over the city.

King Henry II of France built it in the 16th century. Back then, it served as a defence post, barracks and a military training centre.

During the French Revolution, Napoleon was held prisoner in the fortress for a short time.

Picasso museum from outside

The Musee Picasso is located in the stunning Chateau Grimaldi directly at the sea.

In 1946, the 2nd floor of this magnificent chateau was Picasso’s studio. After his year-long stay in Antibes, he thanked the town by donating some of his most famous drawings and paintings that are now exposed in todays museum.
